The award provides full tuition plus an additional $8,000 per year to cover college-related expenses.

The scholarship goes to students interested in undergraduate research.

To qualify, Kentucky high school graduates must have a minimum ACT score of 31, or 1420 on the SAT, and a grade point average of 3.75 or better.

Brown, a chemical engineering major at UofL’s Speed School of Engineering, graduated in 2016 from Dixie Heights High School.

He is the son of Leslie and Bill Brown.

“Receiving the Grawemeyer scholarship means I’m one step closer to achieving my dream of working as a chemical engineer for Nike,” said Brown. “It is a culmination of the hard work I have put in thus far and a pathway to future success. It is an opportunity for me to learn and grow while at UofL in the presence of top scholars and faculty.”

Brown was also named a Governor’s Scholar in 2015.
