Gov. Bevin makes appointments to state boards, commissions; includes Garth Kuhnhein of Edgewood


Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Kentucky Tobacco Research Board

Warren Beeler, Todd A. Clark and Brian S. Travis have been appointed to the Kentucky Tobacco Research Board.

• Warren Beeler, of Caneyville, is the executive director of the Governor’s Office of Agriculture Policy. Mr. Beeler shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2018.
• Todd A. Clark, of Lexington, is a farmer. Mr. Clark shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2018.
• Brian S. Travis, of Cox’s Creek, is a farmer. Mr. Travis shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2018.

The Kentucky Tobacco Research Board is composed of 13 members, 10 are permanent members and three at-large members are appointed by the Governor. The Kentucky Tobacco Research Board formulates policies and procedures and ensures proper expenditure of state funds for the Kentucky Tobacco Research and Development Center. The Board also reviews and authorizes research projects and programs related to providing or disproving the health hazards of tobacco use

Governor’s Minority Employment, Business Affairs and Economic Development Council

Tiffany Bowman, Waymen Eddings and Tonya Jackson have been appointed to the Governor’s Minority Employment, Business Affairs and Economic Development Council.

• Tiffany Bowman, of Simpsonville, is an attorney. Ms. Bowman shall serve for a term expiring April 1, 2020.
• Wayman Eddings, of Louisville, is a business owner. Mr. Eddings shall serve for a term expiring April 1, 2020.
• Tonya Jackson, of Lexington, is the Vice President of Global Supply Chain Operations for Lexmark. Mrs. Jackson shall serve for a term expiring April 1, 2020.

The Governor’s Minority Employment, Business Affairs and Economic Council in collaboration with major corporations, business owners, government entities, community and higher education institutions, seeks to develop outcome driven initiatives that can measurably grow minority business enterprises and minority employment opportunities within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Council is composed of the Governor, or designee, the Lt. Gov. or designee and 15 members appointed by the Governor.

Louisville/Jefferson County Tourist and Convention Commission

Mary Moseley has been appointed to the Louisville/Jefferson County Tourist and Convention Commission.

• Mary Moseley, of Louisville, is the president of Al J. Schneider Co. Mrs. Moseley shall serve for a term expiring August 13, 2019.

The Louisville/Jefferson County Tourist and Convention Commission is made up of nine members, three of whom are appointed by the Governor.  The commission is charged with promoting and establishing events in Louisville and Jefferson County.

Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission

Sasha L. Higgins has been appointed to the Martin Luther King, Jr. State Commission.
 
• Sasha L. Higgins, of Lexington, is a hotel general manager. Mrs. Higgins shall serve for a term expiring December 12, 2019.
 
Founded in August 1992, the mission of the Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission is to promote the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change espoused by the late civil rights leader. The 13-member commission, appointed by the Governor, focuses on Dr. King’s dream for all Americans to experience full equality, economic justice, and interracial harmony. The Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission sponsors the Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Celebration.

Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings, and Construction
 
Ethan A. Buell, Leonard Heuser, Eddie Masterson and John P. Simms have been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings and Construction.

• Ethan A. Buell, of Versailles, is an engineer. Mr. Buell will represent the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers as structural engineer and serve for a term expiring July 31, 2020.
• Leonard Heuser, of Louisville, is a business owner. Mr. Heuser will represent the Mechanical Contractors Association of Kentucky as mechanical contractor and serve for a term expiring July 31, 2020.
• Eddie Masterson, of Bardstown, is the operations manager at Buzick Lumber. Mr. Masterson will represent the Kentucky Building Materials Association and serve for a term expiring July 31, 2020.
• John P. Simms, of Bowling Green, is a business owner. Mr. Simms will represent citizens at large and serve for a term expiring July 31, 2020.
 
The Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings and Construction is made up of 16 members appointed by the Governor and four ex officio members. The board coordinates the administration and oversight of Kentucky’s building industry.
 
Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education

Sebastian Torres has been appointed to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

• Sebastian Torres, of Lexington, is a student. He will represent students and serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.
 
The Council on Postsecondary Education, a 16-member board appointed by the Governor, is the state coordinating board for postsecondary and adult education in Kentucky.

Kentucky Local Government Public-Private Partnership Board
 
Garth A. Kuhnhein has been appointed to the Kentucky Local Government Public-Private Partnership Board.

• Garth A. Kuhnhein, of Edgewood, is an engineer. He will represent citizens and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2020. 

The Kentucky Local Government Public-Private Partnership Board will review, request, deny, allow, regulate and administrate the contracts for public-private partnership throughout the Commonwealth.
