Television host and former Bengal Dhani Jones to drive pace vehicle at KY Speedway Quaker State 400


“Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” host and former NFL linebacker Dhani Jones will serve as the Honorary Pace Vehicle Driver for the sixth annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto parts on Saturday, July 9.

“As a fan of NASCAR, riding in the pace vehicle is an honor,” Jones said. “I am thrilled to lead the cars to the green flag at the Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts at Kentucky Speedway. It is going to be an exciting experience that I am looking forward to.”

Jones is the current host of NBC’s new alternative series “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” which premiered Monday, June 13, and he is described by many as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, NFL linebacker, author, explorer.

He began his career on the football field with the New York Giants for four seasons where he went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles (2004-2006) and ended his NFL career at the Cincinnati Bengals (2007-2010).

In 2010, Jones launched his philanthropic endeavor with BowTie Cause, designing signature bow ties for organizations around the country.

His entrepreneurial spirit has continued to push him in new directions, adding Qey Capital and Hyur Staffing Services to his roster.

He has since become a partner of two advertising agencies: Proclamation, based in Cincinnati, and VMG-Creative in New York.

Jones is an author, writing his travelogue/memoir, “The Sportsman: Unexpected Lessons From an Around the World Sports Odyssey,” in 2011.

In addition to his hosting duties on “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge”, he also hosts Travel Channel’s original series “Dhani Tackles the Globe,” “Playbook 360” on Spike and, “Be a Champion” on CNN.com.

Kentucky Speedway’s 2016 season begins in July with the return of a NASCAR tripleheader weekend anchored by the July 9 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts the weekend with the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 Thursday, July 7 and the NASCAR XFINITY Series Alsco 300 Friday, July 8.

Fans may purchase season tickets and camping, July weekend packages, individual race tickets or Kroger Fan Zone passes now by calling (859) 578-2300, at http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com, or by visiting the Kentucky Speedway ticket office at 1 Speedway Drive in Sparta.

Kentucky Speedway is located just off Interstate 71 Exit 57 and Ky. Hwy. 35 North. Ticket office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fans can also watch the Quaker State 400 live on NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
