St. Elizabeth opens community grief center in Edgewood; facility to offer bereavement services

The St. Elizabeth Healthcare Community Grief Center opens today in Edgewood.

The center is located next to the St. Elizabeth Hospice inpatient unit at 483 South Loop Drive.

Grief and Loss

The St. Elizabeth Hospice bereavement program is a community wide support service. Bereavement services are available to anyone in the community experiencing a loss, not just those who have been through the hospice program.

The $1.5 million, 3,000-square-foot center features a large group room, conference rooms, three counseling rooms and a sitting area for families. It also includes a break/kitchen area, common area/coffee shop and administrative offices.

The hospice program includes 110 employees, 120 hospice volunteers and 40 bereavement volunteers, so no new employees will be needed to staff the facility. The program includes 60 percent hospice/bereavement volunteers that have been through the hospice program with a family member.

The grief center will provide a comfortable place to provide one-on-one and family support. A welcome and introduction will begin at 4 p.m. followed by a tour of the new center and refreshments. For more information, contact emily.cahill@stelizabeth.com .
